Cardiff Bay Family Fundraising Walk for Palestine

September is back to school month, but for so many children in Gaza, their schools have been reduced to rubble. This walk is in honour of every child in Gaza living in unimaginable conditions, and in solidarity with their right to learn, play, and dream.

We are raising funds to support Al-Tamayuz School in Jabalia, North Gaza – a beacon of resilience amidst war and destruction. Despite 90% of Gaza’s schools being destroyed and over 17,000 children killed, Al-Tamayuz continues to teach and care for 1,500 children every day.

This school is not just a place of learning, it’s a sanctuary. It offers safety and care for children who have lost their homes, their loved ones, and any sense of normality. Many of these children are being starved, with families struggling to find enough food, yet the school remains a refuge where they can receive warmth, nourishment, and the simple joy of playing and learning alongside others.

It costs just £10 a month to educate one child at Al-Tamayuz School. Teachers work tirelessly to keep hope alive, repairing bomb damage themselves, and running classes even in temporary shelters. Al-Tamayuz is committed to ensuring education survives, because in Gaza, saving education is saving the future.

This September, as our own children put on their uniforms, pick up their school bags, and head into safe classrooms, we are walking in solidarity for the children of Gaza who deserve to do the same. Children who should be starting school, not struggling to survive.
