Children of Linda Beardy Fundraiser OFFICIAL

Donation protected
Organizer note:

This GoFundMe was created with the permission of the family and in partnership with Lucy Beardy the eldest sister of the late Linda Beardy. I am a cousin to Linda, but who I am isn't important. What is important is that in the whirlwind and aftermath of such a tragedy, we do not forget about the Children of Linda Beardy. She had four children (4) that despite any opinion they did not deserve or ask for their mother to be taken from them.

The Family of Linda Beardy is understandably grief-stricken. Many of us have offered them support for which I can say they are grateful. I have conferred with the family and we would like to ensure the children of Linda Beardy are not forgotten about in the aftermath of such a tragic loss which happens all too often.

I don't care what your opinion is or where you stand on this matter, the fact remains that the children did not ask for any of this or deserve this. Please join me in ensuring the children of Linda Beardy, regardless of where you stand on this tragic matter are afforded to grow and flourish as any human should be able to, despite the loss of their beloved mother.

For full transparency, we have opened a "joint and" bank account at Assiniboine Credit Union, with Lucy Beardy on April 10, 2023, in which to deposit these funds. If Lucy or The Family of Linda Beardy so choose after they get time to process I can deposit the balance of these funds into their own GoFundMe which would reflect, after funeral contributions a record of this GoFundMe balance. The family was unfamiliar with the importance of a public and immediate Gofundme and is undergoing a tragic loss and grieving process. The immediate worry was rooted in providing for the children of Linda Beardy funds for a proper burial for their mother and the strength and support going forward.

On a personal note, one must only check my credentials to see I am well successful and have nothing to gain from this Gofundme so any comments or narratives to the contrary are unwarranted. And once again who I am is not important. What is important, and I hope you agree, is ensuring the future of these children who lost their mother very tragically and suddenly and at no fault of their own.

The immediate concern is to raise funds for the funeral so the children will see their mother given a proper and respectful burial. The hope is for the remaining funds to then be used to establish a Spendthrift Trust and the appointment of a Trustee that will oversee the distribution process from the Trust Fund. This would be done via Irrevocable Donation with the entirety of the GoFundMe balance, after funeral expenses, as a Grantor donation.

Thank you for considering donating to the Children of Linda Beardy.

STATEMENT BY FAMILY OF LINDA MARY BEARDY

April 6, 2023

Treaty 1 Territory – We are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of our dear Linda. It is difficult to comprehend that this happened to our loved one and to our family. Many want to know about Linda, who she was and how she lived. Linda was our baby girl, a mommy, our sister, auntie, niece, cousin and friend. She will always be truly deeply loved beyond measure. Linda was a rights holder and member of Lake St. Martin First Nation and grew up in Winnipeg, MB. She attended Pinkham school and General Wolfe as well as St. Norbert Adult Education Centre. Linda had a strong Christian faith and grew up attending Bethel Tabernacle. She was also an active member of Living Bible Explorers. At the time of her passing, Linda actively attended the Believers Church. We remember Linda as a super devoted Auntie, who always stepped in to play and had such a contagious laugh that filled any room she was in. Linda was the youngest of five sisters who fiercely supported one another whether through caring for children or lending a shoulder of support. She was in constant contact with family, and she was often active on social media. Linda loved being a Mommy to her four children and they were her pride and joy. This is who our loved one, Linda Beardy is and how she will be remembered in our hearts.

The Family of Linda Beardy
----------------------

The family has come together to create this GoFundMe and a bank account to be co-administered by the immediate sister of Linda Beardy, which will ensure Linda Beardy's Children are taken care of and their mother is given a proper burial. Linda leaves behind four (4) children, Tyrone, Janessa, Deanna and Devin who love and will miss their mother very much. We hope to provide for:

  • Expenses for a proper burial for their dear mother Linda Beardy
  • Mental health supports such as therapy and counselling.
  • Education expenses such as tuition, school supplies and extracurricular activities.
  • Basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter but also to ensure the kids are in the care of family and not the child welfare system
  • To set up a trust fund for the children to ensure this happens and to provide for them and their children as they grow up.

A word from Lucy Beardy

We are looking for help with funeral expenses as the expenses have grown with the want for public to join us in honoring Linda. Here is our official GoFundMe which is focused on the Children of Linda Beardy but also includes Funeral Expenses so they can give their mother a proper burial. Please consider donating. - Lucy Beardy"

Contributions are appreciated to ensure Linda's children have a bright future ahead despite the tragic loss of their dear mother. The Family of Linda Beardy wishes to thank everyone who has stepped up since the very beginning of this tragedy that affects us all. "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

Obituary

We are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of our dear Baby Girl Linda.

Linda was rights holder and member of Lake St. Martin First Nation with a large family in North Spirit Lake, Ontario as the daughter of late Oji- Cree Artist Collins “Wawatay” Campbell.

Linda leaves behind her precious children Tyrone, Janessa, Deanna and Devin, stepfather Charles Patrick Harper, sisters Colleen, Lucy, Susan, Colynda, Ginger (Justin), Francine, Lisa and Cora, brothers Nickolas and Charles “Chucky” Harper, aunts Bertha (Clifton) McKay, Eva Beardy, Martha (Kerry) Beardy, Jessie Grenier and Christine Campbell, uncles Louie Beardy (Delores), Andrew “Cheese” Beardy, Joseph (Yolanda) Campbell and Phillip (Joyce) Campbell, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Linda was predeceased by her father Collins “Wawatay” Campbell, mother Betty Beardy, maternal grandparents Gilbert “Mouse” and Susan Beardy, paternal grandparents Noah & Lucy Campbell, aunts Harriet Anderson and Linda Kakewash, uncle Mervin Campbell and step-sister Tanya Wood.

Linda was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Growing up in a blended family home, she was the baby in the family and forever became known to us as "Baby". She was well loved by her large family. She was the favourite auntie to her beloved nieces and nephews; “Auntie Baby” as she was affectionately called by them. She was always there for her siblings and jumped in where needed. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was often happy, smiling and was well liked amongst the people she met. As a child, she was athletically gifted and competitively swam. During this time she was incredibly fit and often would flex her muscles to show off her hard work. This came to an end after losing her mother in a tragic accident when Linda was 13 years old. Afterward, Linda was raised by her sister Lucy until Linda became a mother herself.

Linda absolutely adored being a mommy to her four children. They were her pride and joy. She had a lot of love and patience with her little ones. She loved playing with her kids and spending time with them. She held fun birthday parties for her kids and made holidays memorable.

Linda will be remembered for her strong Christian faith. She had a heart of gold and never hesitated to lend a shoulder of support to anyone in need. Her contagious laugh filled any room she was in.

This is who Linda "Baby" Beardy was and how she will be remembered in our hearts. She will always be truly and deeply loved beyond measure.

The family would like to thank the enormous amount of individuals and organizations that have been supportive during this time of sorrow - too numerous to individually mention at this time.
