Last year, a group of 8 board members went to the Democratic Republic of Congo to help improve the living conditions of the kids in the villages. The trip was a success as we still continue to help out the kids by building doors and windows for the schools.
This year, the board members of AKAV (Assistance for Kids in African Villages) will be traveling to Ghana in December 2024 to deliver materials and perform community service in the villages of Kumasi.
Many of the schools in the villages of Kumasi have facilities in poor conditions.
The board of AKAV is raising funds that will be used for the following tasks:
- Purchase of first-aid kits for the village community
- Purchase of clothes, shoes, and learning materials for the kids in the village
- Provide community service including workshops with teachers, improvement of sanitation, repairs of facilities (roof, walls…) etc.
- Assistance to board members for expenses that relate to accommodation, airfares and ground transportation.
- Transportation of materials from the city to the village
***All donations to AKAV are considered charitable donations and tax-deductible pending the approval of our 501(c)(3) application by the IRS, which we fully expect***
