Children Home Nepal
is a small school close to Kathmandu, Nepal's capital. There, we are educating 14 poor and vulnerable children who had single parents who could not offer them all the opportunities these kids deserve. We provide them with food, shelter and medical support, but mostly with quality education to give them a chance in the world. Why did we start?
My name is Sujan, and we started this organization in 2012 with 10 children. After going through poverty during the civil war where my dad served in the army, not knowing if he would ever come back, my parents realized how helpless me and my sister, who were children back then, could have become. So they felt like doing something for other children who didn't have the chance I did to still have both of their parents alive to care for them. And this is how it all started: with children who were assigned to us by the government that we welcomed into our home. Why are we raising funds?
First we started the children home with a small fund that was given to my father by the United nations after a peace mission he did in Congo, and with his salary as a soldier. But this could never cover all the expenses such a home requires, with the food, the renting of the house, the school fees of all the children including me and my sister back then. So we started small businesses, like a chicken farm that didn't work, and now we sell hammocks, run a guest house and host volunteers to try to cover the costs. Still, the children are growing up, and the projects will not cover all the expenses for the coming years, which is why we need your help. What is the money for?
Your donation will allow us to give quality meals to the children, pay for their medical expenses and school fees, for the festival celebrations, for their clothes, the school uniforms, the books and pencils, outdoor activities like picnics, movies, swimming etc. This money could really make a change to improve the children's lives and allow them to develop themselves and their own personality and identity.
