Welcome to a story of resilience, hope, and the power of collective action. I am Dr. Christina Blanchard-Horan, and I have dedicated jour lives to nurturing and protecting the most vulnerable. In the heart of Uganda, amidst the verdant landscapes of Bugiri, lies the Child Raising Center, a sanctuary for 70 precious young lives—and counting. These children, once teetering on the edge of despair, have found solace under our wings, but our journey is far from over.

A Cry for Help

Imagine, for a moment, children without a morsel of food for days, their beds merely the hard, unforgiving earth of grass huts. This was the harrowing reality I encountered. Driven by an unwavering commitment, we've embarked on an ambitious journey to turn the tide. From purchasing land for sustenance farming to erecting a temporary schoolhouse, every step has been a testament to what we can achieve together. Yet, our path is fraught with challenges. Just last Christmas, while many reveled in festive joy, our children faced the specter of homelessness. Tragedy struck when two of our own were poisoned, a stark reminder of the dangers they face daily.

Our Vision: A Beacon of Self-Sustainability

In response, I've spearheaded the IHP Revolving Fund and GirlsFreedom.org initiative, aiming to forge a self-sustaining future for these children. By investing in agriculture and education, we're laying the foundations for a future where the Child Raising Center stands as a beacon of independence and hope. Your support fuels this vision, enabling us to provide the essentials—food, shelter, and education—while nurturing the dreams of these young souls.

Every contribution we receive is a trust we hold dear, with 100% of donations directly benefitting the children. In fact, most of the time, Dr CBH matches each donation. There are no overhead costs, except transfer fees—every penny supports their well-being lodging, food, drink, care and education. As of September 2024, we have made many accomplishments. We bought land, planted, grew and tended ground nuts (peanuts) and cassava. Both of these can be eaten and sold or traded. We built a temporary schoolhouse and a pit latrine for the children's to "go". We most recently dug a well. We still need to cap the well and lastly, because we have been paying for lodging, we will be building a structure for sleeping 70 children.
