At the beginning of August, Lenna was diagnosed with a rare type of tumor in her liver, affecting her nutrition, energy, and quality of life. This diagnosis stopped her normal life and changed her childhood forever.
Lenna never imagined her goals coming to a halt. She always dreamed about her Senior year and the things she wanted to accomplish. Dreaming of her senior prom, hanging out with her friends, and living up to the final year of high school. Lenna planned to go off to college and see the world. This has all come to a stop while she is fighting for her life. Yet, despite the difficult challenges & the unknown future, Lenna is fighting this cancer battle with a positive mindset and strength. She is looking to make this fight just a chapter in her story, not her whole story.
Due to the type of cancer and rarity, Lenna must travel down to Houston Tx for treatment. Spending long periods away from her family and friends. All in the pursuit of finding her next chapter.
Her recent scans showed a large tumor in the liver. She has started chemotherapy to shrink the tumor as the doctors cannot do surgery to remove it until it shrinks in size. We are staying stable, but no shrinkage. Chemotherapy is hard and the more she has it the worse the side effects are. Since the tumor is not shrinking, the next step is to be put on the transplant list. We are looking at more stays and travel to Houston.
Our family is devastated by this news. We cannot understand how this can be happening to someone so young, with their whole life to live. Life is unfair sometimes, but no one could have anticipated this. Please help me help Lenna during these uncertain times while she fights for her life.
All funds raised will help Lenna get medical assistance, housing, transportation, & any other additional bills. The cost of just one shot for her blood count costs $1600 and while we are lucky to have insurance, the bills are stacking up quickly and we already have another child who already has special needs.
On behalf of Lenna, we send our love, gratitude for your concern, and generosity. We humbly ask prayers for strength & speedy healing in recovery.
