Hello, my name is Taylor (better known as Potato from JustAnAutisticPotato). I am a stay at home parent to the best (almost) 2 year old on the planet and have been fighting thyroid cancer for the last 6ish months.

The next step of my treatment, scheduled January 15th, 2025, is irradiated iodine therapy. This will hopefully kill any remaining cancer in my body, but also let us know where the left over cancer is. Thyroid tissue is very low metabolic, so traditional scans for other cancers don't pick it up. 10 days after the iodine is administered I will go in for a head to toe scan and we'll see if there are any Mets left inside of me.

This comes at short notice because I've been trying to schedule this for over a month and just now was able to! (12/23/24)

While I'm radioactive, I can't be in the same room as my child :( which is very sad but also unfortunate because I am our only childcare. I am now scrambling to find coverage so my husband can work, or funds so my husband can watch our little one while I am away.
