Child Of The Sun - The Short Film

My name is Lauren Rascoe, and I am excited to finally be working on this visual poem project: Child Of The Sun. This story is about an unsuspecting Black man that comes face to face with change, which challenges him to see himself for who he really is. He learns to embrace change by seeing he has everything he needs within him. He picks up the pieces of himself that he needs and leaves behind what no longer serves him; continuing onward to the next level of his journey: the unknown.

 

While I've had the chance to create a lot of different things, I've been sitting on this idea to create a visual poem since I saw Beyonce's Lemonade, but at the time didn't have the tools, resources, skills, or people to support me in developing this idea. Now, I've got almost everything I need to make this project come to life. This is where you come in!

 

While working on personal projects can be a lot of fun, they can also be costly. I want to be able to adequately cover the expenses to bring this project to life and fairly compensate those who are helping me along the way. We're looking to raise $6,600 to cover all expenses for this project. Anything that you're able to donate will help us bring this project to life and support a number of Black creatives in their creative pursuits.

 

Risks and challenges

If we don't reach our budget, we may not be able to shoot in in a timely fashion and complete the project. It may also be difficult for us to get prompts and afford to pay our contractors for their work.
