Chiggy’s Story

Hello there! My name is Archie, but you might know me as Chiggy, or maybe Chimbin, or even Archibald if you're feeling fancy. I have a lot of nicknames because, well, I’m kind of a big deal around here. My mums love me so much, and I’m the furry little heart of their home. I’m 8 years old, and I’ve spent most of my life exploring, snuggling, and giving endless love (and of course, getting plenty of treats in return!).

But a couple of months ago, something changed. I lost the use of my back legs, which made things pretty tough. My mums were so worried, and we’ve been on a long journey of tests and vet visits, trying to figure out what’s wrong with me. Sadly, the news we got wasn’t the best: I’ve been diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy, which is a progressive disease that’s slowly affecting my spinal cord. It’s a condition that doesn’t have a cure, and it means my ability to walk will get worse over time.

Even though my paws can’t do all the adventuring I used to, my mums are determined to make sure I live out the rest of my days with love, comfort, and all the belly rubs a dog could ask for. We’re trying to make the most of the time we have left together, creating beautiful memories. From my curious snout to my loving eyes, they’ve captured so many moments of me living my best life.

As much as we’re trying to stay positive, we know that the time is coming when I’ll have to say goodbye. And when that time comes, we want to be together, at home, surrounded by love and comfort.

Unfortunately, the medical bills are adding up quickly, and we’re hoping to raise some funds to help cover the costs of my care, including the eventual in-home euthanasia when the time is right. Every little bit helps, whether it’s a kind donation or even just sharing my story with others. No donation is too small, and there’s always room for a puppuccino or two (because, hey, I’m still a dog who enjoys the occasional treat!).

Thank you for reading my story and for supporting me during this tough time. My mums and I are forever grateful for any help or kind words.

With love, bum pats and tail wags,
Archie (aka Chiggy, Chigster, Archibald, Chimbin, or Chingus)
