I have officially made it to my SENIOR YEAR! I am so excited to be graduating this year!
I would love to thank everyone who has gifted me with tools I now keep in my life toolkit.
Some of you know me as Lil Tree the revolutionary, and others may know me as Ana the only daughter of a large house.
It is not new news that senior year has been a turmoil.
These funds will go towards supporting me in my transition- specifically:
-Finding sustainable housing
-Helping with graduation funds
-Supporting with College expenses
-Contributing to my highschool-to-college transition
-& CELEBRATING BEING APART OF THE CLASS OF 2021!
Senior year has been full of surprises. My nana caught covid, my mother was hospitalized and was down for the count, my brother went to jail after police used protesters as toys. All after the battle of hyde park where I watched my mentors and family be beaten by police. Cops wearing their blood on their shirts as they used batons to remind me of my place. This following, the non-stop, back-to-back #COPSOUTCPS actions, where I watched my organizing community be arrested because they demand for SAFETY in their schools. The summer of 2020 was no joke, and it hasn't gotten easier. The world watched Chicago youth be beaten, dehumanized, and incarcerated- me too. This nation watched youth continuously get up day after day fighting against injustices- & me too. This city watched youth say WE'RE FIRED UP & WONT TAKE IT NO MORE to those in power- & so did I. The difference between me and the viewers was...I was there too. Trauma and all. Going to school, then actions, then interviews, and to work- that was my senior year.
My struggles still continue, and so does my fight.
For the loved ones who are no longer here to fight, for the family, I Have lost to the sky, and for a future without fighting.
I recently lost my home and am in search of a new one.
I'm asking for your support and love. I'm asking you to support a graduating youth organizer of Chicago. A youth who has dedicated 10+ years of their life, fighting in the streets of Chicago.
Whether we met in the streets, or at a family reunion I appreciate anything given.
Sending some of my Black Girl Magic! XOXO <3
