My name is Saurabh Deo and I'm running the Chicago Marathon in 2025 in memory of my mom, Medha Deo. I am running with and raising money for Team American Heart Association.
My mom passed away from a stroke and heart attack in 2019. Anyone who knew my mom knew that she was the most selfless, charismatic, and empathetic human being on this planet; she truly was Superwoman. She taught me from a young age to give back to those less fortunate, and it wasn't just all talk. She spent the majority of her life looking after those less fortunate, doing everything from donating time and money to cancer and heart-related ailments and research, to helping end hunger in India, to providing supplies and English lessons to underprivileged school girls in India so they could grow up and thrive. She always reminded me about the importance of paying our fortune forward and really lived and breathed those words every day.
Since she passed, my dad and I have been trying to do everything we can to follow in her footsteps; so it goes without saying that this opportunity to run for the American Heart Association on behalf of my mother is a tremendous honor. All the money I raise will go directly to the American Heart Association to raise awareness about heart and brain-related traumas and illnesses, and will fund critical research about the same. Thank you so much for reading this far in and for honoring my mother with your time and donation; it means the world to me and my family.
NOTE: This is a personal fundraiser because the official Chicago Marathon fundraising page for Team AHA will be available at the end of January. At that time, I will post proof that all the money raised here was contributed toward that fundraiser page.
