Chicago Marathon 2021 - Team Lingzi
Tax deductible
Hello family and friends! I'm excited to share that I will be running The Chicago Marathon on October 10th, 2021 as a proud member of Team Lingzi! I'm pumped to tackle another 26.2 miles for The Lingzi Foundation and return to "live" racing after over a year of crossing virtual finish lines. This year is especially unique as The Boston Marathon will also take place in October, with a scheduled date of October 11th, 2021 - so while I tackle Chicago on Sunday, my teammates will also be running #MoreMilesForLingzi the next day in Boston!
About The Lingzi Foundation
The Lingzi Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established by the family of Lu Lingzi, after she lost her life in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing attack. Based in Boston, the Foundation aims to preserve and perpetuate Lingzi’s life example through charitable actions and community building.
Fundraising in 2021
I know this has been an extremely difficult year for people financially, with the loss of jobs and the overall chaos that the pandemic has created. If you are able to support my mission with Team Lingzi, in any capacity, it is greatly appreciated. Now more than ever, our community partners need the support of those who are in a position to lend a helping hand. This year, along with our community partnerships already in place, The Foundation also wants to show our support & solidarity with the Asian American & Pacific Islander communities (in light of the escalating events of this past year).
My Motivation
As a native Bostonian and avid runner, the Boston Marathon has always had a special place in my heart. The 2013 marathon bombings hit close to home, and after learning about the tragic loss of Lingzi, I wanted to do my part to help honor her life and memory. I will never forget meeting Lingzi's parents and several of her family members just prior to the Boston Marathon in 2018; hearing their kind words of appreciation & gratitude inspired me to run with strength and purpose during that cold, rainy race. In those moments, I made a commitment to further my involvement with Team Lingzi; and I am excited to have this opportunity to run another 26.2 miles in her name. THANK YOU to Lingzi's family for placing their trust/ faith in me to take on this mission - it is not something I take lightly.
Chicago, after a year of virtual races...I'll be ready for you. Let's go, Team Lingzi! Thank you as always for your support!
