Hi everyone! My name is Andrea and I am here in hopes that we can all help with the recovery of my dog, Chia.
On Friday, March 7th, I noticed that there’s blood coming out of his mouth, possibly from chewing on his bone. We brought him to his usual vet and they did some blood work. They didn’t think it was an emergency. The next day, Chia is still bleeding heavily and we are concerned of him becoming anemic. Due to this, we made a decision to rush him to an emergency vet hospital. They found out that he has a condition called Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia (ITP) which is something that is hard to detect and attacks middle age dogs. We are instructed that Chia will need to do an aggressive therapy and needs to stay at the hospital for 3-5 days. A night in the hospital can cost up to $3000. Unfortunately, Chia is not insured. With this aggressive treatment, there’s a 70-90% chance of survival.
We know that it is a lot to ask, but we simply cannot let go yet. Chia is loved, not just by his family, but a lot of people that he has met. We are hoping that he will continue to spread this love more as he is only 6 years old. His brother, Mookie cannot wait to have him back home. He’s been my greatest support since he came in my life and got me through a lot of emotional challenges.
If you made it to this part, I want to say thank you for kindly reading his story. Please send good luck and prayers our way!
