Friday, November 18, the Alpha Beta chapter of Chi Psi Fraternity will be having a Percent night for Sistercare of Columbia and The Gills Creek Watershed Association featuring artist Penn Johnson. Foruntately for us we were super lucky to have the opportunity for him to take time out of his busy tour schedule to come down for this great cause. 20% of all profit generated will be donated to these two honorable causes and it would be greatly appreciated if you could come! Since South Carolina is ranked first in the nation for the rate of women killed by men (Violence Policy Center) this cause is extremely important and all donations will make a difference. Money generated will go toward Sistercare and their endless efforts to care for domestic violence survivors and raise awareness of the issue in the Midlands. Money raised will also be donated to the Gills Creek Watershed. It is among the MOST impaired urban watersheds in South Carolina. It contains over 70 miles of streams and lakes and 47,000 acres of land. Quality of water is imperative and this association has pledged to do do whatever needed to return the Gills Creek Watershed to a living resource. We can not thank everyone enough for their donations to these righteous causes and we hope to see you Friday the 18th at the Saloon in Five Points from 6:30-9:00 for some friends and fun to help support the community and all of the members that inhabit it!
