Cheyenne's cancer treatment fund

Hello all, this is Amanda and Jason VanDyke.

This world is giving our family a challenge, and we are going to fight like hell, and beat this ugly beast. Our Daughter Cheyenne, who is only 19 years old, was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma (a rare childhood cancer) last month. She is a full-time student at the University of Fort Lauderdale, plays college softball and also works in the time between to pay for college. If any of you have ever met Cheyenne, you know she is the most caring and giving, strong, energetic, person always with a smile on her face. She is allowing the doctors to use her information to help aid in the research of this cancer.

Ewing’s Sarcoma is very rare and aggressive cancer, she will be starting her first round of 7 chemotherapy treatments on July 10. This week prior, she has to have an MRI, PET scan, injections, and a port put in. Once the first 7 chemo treatments are complete, she will have surgery to remove the tumor and then another 7 rounds of chemo treatments. These treatments mean MANY doctor visits, lab work, tests, and hospital stays, traveling 2 hours to Miami for all of it. We have insurance, but everyone knows that insurance these days doesn’t take care of everything, and there’s almost always a fight to get them to cover what is needed. There is already out of pocket expenses, with much more to come. The doctor expects the initial phase to be complete in a year.

We are just starting this long unknown journey and already know we can not get through this without the help of our family and friends.
