Cheyanne's Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
Hi, i have started this Go Fund Me on behalf of my 27 year old sisterCheyanne Patterson.

Cheyanne has just recently got the devastating news, that she has cancer. She has a growth on her ankle for many years, and believed that it was a ganglion cyst. She was told not to worry as long as it didnt imped her daily life.

While in collage in 2017, Cheyanne was told by the RN that it was not a ganglion cyst as it had no firm attachment. She was refered to an ankle specialist and they preformed an ultrasound and was told it was nothing to worry about. While waiting to have surgery, Cheyanne finished school and had moved home. She had to get a family doctor before she could have it looked at again.

Cheyanne was then referred to a new ankle specialist in February of 2022. They again sent her for and ultrasound and then an MRI. The orthopedic specialist was going on maternity leave and it seemed like everything was fine and they would see her in upon her return. When the doctor did a follow up in april of 2023 they had decided that they would like to test the mass prior to removing it. In July Cheyanne had a ultrasound guided biopsy of the mass.

About 6 weeks later she was seen for a follow up and the doctor was still saying it was a soft tissue mass that they could remove at the local hospital. The next day the doctor called he and told her that there was a second part of the results that they did not have access to the day before the mass is a fibromyxoid sarcoma.

She was then referred to the surgery, oncology and radiology teams in Toronto, at Mount Siani, and Princess Margaret Hospital. She has had to take time off work on short notice to go for more test and imaging in Toronto. While they prepare her treatment options/schedule.

Though it may be growing slowly, she has no time to waste. The doctors are recomending she start radiation very soon, this will require that she be off work for a minimum of 5 weeks for treatments Monday to Friday in Toronto. After they are completed they will try to remove it with surgery. With no guarantee of how much time she will need off to recover. Or if that will be the end of treatments.

This is all coming at her like a brick wall. She is the youngest of the family. She will need to take a leave from her job, as a registered veterinary technian. She is the only one left in the household, with our mom. Mom does not have a vehicle and relies on Cheyanne to take her to do the shopping and errands.

While EI will be available for Cheyanne, it is 55% of her regular income. And will take some time to process, she has already had 3 trips to Toronto for appointment. 1 night stay in a hotel, another appointment for a CT scan this week, and Radiation likely starting the following week. She has alot of unexpected expenses and very little time to prepare for all of this.

Please donate to help her journey be easier and less to worry about with the financial burden on top of the cancer and unknown. She will need extra money for gas, food, hotel stays, and just keeping her afloat on her bills and everyday expenses, until Employment Insurance kicks in.
