Hi, my name is Brenden "Tiger" Shucart, and the pup in the pictures is my little guy, Chewy Bacon.

On a rainy San Francisco night, almost 14 years ago, my roommates found him as a little lost puppy. Since then he has been my near-constant companion.

San Francisco to Los Angeles, Los Angeles to Atlanta, Atlanta back to San Francisco, San Francisco to Seattle.

Chewy has loyally and lovingly shared in my every adventure, comforted me through heartaches, and annoyingly gotten right under my feet as I tried to cook dinner.

He’s my best friend, and I’d do anything for him.

Two weeks ago, out of nowhere, Chewy got really sick.

Over three days he went from a low appetite to diarrhea, to vomiting, to having a seizure in my lap.

Almost $1,000 later and the vet still has no idea what’s wrong with him. The “let’s see if this helps” regimen of antibiotics and steroids she prescribed worked to stabilize him. But, since that ran out a couple of days ago, he’s gradually started to deteriorate again.

He needs to go back to the vet. But as it is, I’m working two jobs and barely scraping by. I wouldn’t have even been able to pay for the vet bills we’ve racked up so far without loans from my friends Amy and Starkey.

I’ve been putting off doing this GoFundMe, both because I hate asking for charity and because I think it means admitting on some level that my little guy is in really desperate straights. But if I don’t figure out a way to help him, I know I’ll never forgive myself.
