We are fundraising to build and resource a large sun, and all weather, canopy on our top playground. The sun canopy is being constructed in memory of Jess Maggs, a parent who dedicated huge amounts of her time, energy and enthusiasm to helping our school community. Jess was chair of our PTA, helped with Forest School sessions, swimming lessons and listening to readers, among other activities. Sadly, Jess passed away at the end of 2024 after a long and brave battle against Melanoma, skin cancer. Jess' daughter is on our school council team this year, and along with her peers is helping to plan fundraising events with aim to raise as much money as possible to support this project in her Mum's memory. 

Our school is set in the beautiful and rural Mendip countryside, and whilst we are surrounded by woodland our playground offers little sun protection in the summer months, and little protection from the rain throughout the year. If we achieve our target we will have a sun canopy constructed with benches and resources, providing shelter and activities during extreme weather conditions. It also allows us to use the space for additional outdoor learning opportunities.
