Hello, My name is Erica and I have had the absolute honor and privilege of being Chewbacca's human for the past 10+ years, also called Chewie for short.

I was out of town for work for 11 days and picked Chewie up from his dog sitter this past Wednesday (5/1). He was extremely low energy and had a dry cough. I rushed him to the ER thinking he had pneumonia. After taking radiographs, we discovered that he has a very large tumor in his left lung. This tumor is so large that it is making it extremely difficult for Chewie to breathe, eat, go potty, and get comfortable resting.

This is an extremely aggressive cancer. He went from presenting zero symptoms to lethargy and trouble breathing within weeks. After lots of tests at the emergency vet, it was determined that Chewie only has the one isolated mass in his lung - that there are no other cancers present and all other organs are functioning normally.

Because the cancer is isolated to his left lung and his other organs still have full function, Chewie is a great candidate for a Lung Lobectomy - which will give him the chance for a full recovery, and give him several more years on this earth with us.

Chewie has been the greatest gift to my life and those around me. He is such a pure and gentle soul. He is wonderful with kids, loves to play, is a top tier cuddler, a very impressive swimmer and is absolutely captivated and entranced by "ball". He loves a good adventure, whether it be a nice little hike, walk through the city, or a long car ride.
