Chewy stopped eating last week, weve been mixing egg and cottage cheese into his kibble to encourage him to eat. That worked for a couple days. He refused to eat all day yesterday including chicken, drank minimal amounts if water.
Then he vomited blood.
We kept close eye on him, he vomited again half an hour later. In the middle of the night he started having explosive diarrhea, except it wasnt fecal matter. It was blood.
We took him to the Emergency vet. They reported he has a fever of 105/106, and will need to be hospitalized for 24-48hrs (or more) due to his constant pooping blood, and not eating or drinking or being able to retain any nutrients or fluids.
(The bloodwork results were unclear and they have to redo them, because he was THAT dehydrated. The xrays were very concerning according to the vet, he either has a blockage or an extreme gastrointestinal upset-ness
Either way, why I'm here is because andy and I are both out of work and tight on funds right now.
Our vet bill so far:
The exam fee, along with the radiology/bloodwork/xrays/whitebloodcell test was $597.
The minimum cost for hospitalization was $1301.49, which we have to pay today.
Ultrasound is $399
(This makes our total cost as of right now: approx $2300 if I'm doing math right)
-------------------
The maximum cost for hospitalization if he only has to stay 48 hours is $2900. If he doesnt recover within 48 hours his stay at the hospital will be prolongated even more, presenting an even higher financial stress on our family.
ANY donations will be graciously accepted and will go directly to paying the vet bills.
**BEING HOPEFUL**
IF THERE ARE ANY REMAINING FUNDS AFTER WE TAKE HIM HOME AND VET BILLS ARE COVERED THEY WILL BE ALLOCATED DIRECTLY TO THE RENNIE RELIEF FUND TO ASSIST THOSE IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT CANT FEED THEMSELVES RN
