Chevelle is Fighting for His Life After Surgery

Donation protected
Chevelle is a sweet boy who was saved from death row in Bartow County, GA a couple of years ago. He had a really hard time in the shelter, and also in boarding waiting for his ride to Buffalo. But thankfully, he had a loving family who was waiting for him in Buffalo. They were heartbroken when he bloodied his feet and face in his cage in boarding. But they saw something in him and welcomed him to their home in Buffalo with open arms - they adopted him through Hamburg Mutts and he has been living a beautiful life with them for a couple of years. His family worked with him to build up his confidence and show him love. He realized that life was good. But now, Chevelle is fighting for his life. He wasn't acting right this week and his concerned Mom and Dad took him to the vet. Chevelle had xrays and a partial blockage was discovered. The vets tried to get the item to move through his system but after it moved initially, it became stuck in his intestines. Chevelle was vomiting and wasn't eating. He was back and forth to the vet for two days and then the vets knew there was no other option. Chevelle needed emergency surgery. His intestines were going to rupture. The surgery was completed this past Tuesday. The item (half of a small ball which Chevelle's owners didn't recognize) was extracted from Chevelle's instestines. He went home after surgery but the next day he seemed even worse. He wasn't eating althought he didn't have a fever. He was lethargic, which alarmed his Mom and Dad. He went back to the vet again. Poor Chevelle was getting weaker and by this time had lost 13 pounds! Finally on Thursday, the vets discovered that the incision in his intestine was leaking. There was a lot of fluid in him and then things got even worse. Chevelle now had sepsis. He had to go in for yet another surgery on Thursday (yesterday). He was cut open again and his abdomen was flushed out. His regular vet performed the second surgery but the practice is not open overnight so tonight Chevelle had to be transported to an emergency hospital in Buffalo where he will stay overnight. He will receive IV antibiotics and round the clock care to try to save his life. With him being hospitalized tonight, his bill so far is $6,160. If he has to stay longer (48 hours) the bill will then climb to $9528.23. Chevelle's parents have jobs but this huge expense was unexpected. Chevelle is a young boy and his family wants to do everything they possibly can to save his precious life. They will both start working second jobs but money is needed right away for Chevelle's bill which is still climbing. Any donation is so appreciated! Please help Chevelle get better and be able to go back home to his family. He deserves to live a long and happy life. Thank you! Please share for Chevelle and his family.
