My name is Chester, my pronouns are He/Him, and I am a trans man. I got the news that I finally get to have my top surgery! However, due to pre-existing medical bills and the pandemic, I’ll need help accomplishing this goal of getting this life changing surgery.
I have been looking forward to top surgery for as long as I can remember and since before I had the words for it. I started taking testosterone in January 2020, and I have been dreaming of and asking my doctor about top surgery since the beginning of my transition. This surgery means everything to me, so any help I can get will be going towards helping me finally feeling confident, making this dream come true, and making the process as easy and as stress free as possible.
I officially have June 10th as the date set for my surgery and luckily my insurance will be covering part of the costs, but I will still owe an estimated $2761.00 at my pre-op appointment on May 17th. I will also have additional fees from the hospital facility itself after my hospital visit/surgery that are unknown as of right now. I am hoping to be as transparent as possible and update this GoFundMe with costs as they come.
Although it’s very exciting that the date is so soon, I won’t be able to cover these costs on my own in this short amount of time. Additionally, my estimated recovery time is about 6-8 weeks after surgery, then I will be able to return to work. Due to this hiatus of being able to earn an income, I am also hoping to raise a little extra money to cover living expenses during my recovery period and wanted to account for fees gofundme will take out.
