Chester Marathon for MND Association
In 5 weeks time, on October 5th, I am running the Chester Marathon. This will be the first time I have ever ran a marathon and I have decided to raise money as I can for Motor Neurone Disease - MND Association.
I have chosen this charity because one of my best friends’ mum was sadly diagnosed 12 months ago with MND. The disease has progressed so quick, that she is unable to speak and she cannot eat like we are all able to do and take for granted, due to the muscles in her throat now not working. The disease has now also started to affect the muscles around her body, which is now limiting her mobility.
MND is life-shortening and there is no cure! The average person lives around 2-3 years after diagnosis and for some it could be as little as 6 months.
The only thing I can do to help my best friend and anyone else out there with MND is to raise as much money as I possibly can to hope one day, a cure an be found! I am hoping to raise £1000 for the charity as this could enable crucial DNA analysis to take place to advance a better understanding of the causes of MND or it could also provide a tablet with communication software for someone with the disease to continue to connect and communicate with their loved ones.
A huge, huge heartfelt thank you in advance to everyone able to donate any amount of pennies to this incredible charity and to reach my target!
