I have chosen to raise money for War Child because the horrors unfolding in Palestine, Ukraine, Sudan and many other conflict-affected countries have deeply upset me, as they have so many others. Watching children’s lives be torn apart by violence, displacement, and loss is heartbreaking. Being born and raised in a safe country is a privilege and one that I don’t take for granted. I feel a responsibility to use that privilege to support those who are not so fortunate.

Children who are victims of war deserve safety, education, stability, and hope for the future. They deserve the chance to grow up free from fear and to build lives defined by opportunity rather than conflict. By raising money, I hope to play a small part in helping to restore that hope and provide tangible support to those who need it most.

War Child works internationally to protect and support children affected by conflict, including former child soldiers, street children, and children in prison. The organisation is driven by the belief that children should never be victims of war, and it delivers practical, on-the-ground assistance that helps them recover from trauma, access education, and rebuild their lives. Through this half marathon, I hope not only to raise vital funds, but also to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with children whose voices so often go unheard.
