Chest for change- Pectus Carinatum

Story

Hi, my name is Tijen, and I’m raising money for a condition that my younger brother has — That condition is pectus carinatum. You may not have heard of it. That’s part of the problem. Pectus carinatum is a chest wall deformity where the breastbone pushes outward. It’s often called “pigeon chest,” but this name does little to explain the real pain it causes him physically, emotionally, and mentally. It affects his breathing, posture, and a his self-esteem. He now has other symptoms that are affecting him such as scoliosis and his joints being swollen, he struggles with his breathing and when he eats his chest expands and he cant finish his food due to the pain, My brother suffers everyday in pain, he cant do day to day things he cant play the sport he loves.  The cost of treatment — whether it’s a corrective brace, physiotherapy, or surgery — is rarely covered by insurance or public healthcare.
