Chessy’s Veterinary Costs

***Update*** Chessy passed away this morning May 1st. We are beyond devastated with this news and shocked. She was the sweetest most loving pup, my heart is completely shattered. We love you so so much Chessy run free in heaven we pray you get endless love and boundless treats, fly high.

My dads vet bill for surgery and cremation for Chessy was $8,000. We are extremely thankful for all the support so far. If you can help in any way, it would be greatly appreciated by our family.

Hi, my name is Megan Schaafsma, and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my dad, Bruce Schaafsma. On April 29th, his dog Chessy (4yrs old) was tragically hit by a car on County road 34 (Cottam), resulting in severe damage to her left hind leg. After consulting with the veterinarians, it has been determined that she needs an amputation to ensure her well-being and quality of life.

Chessy is not just a pet, she is my dad’s partner in crime, and brings joy and love to our lives every day. As she heads into surgery, we know that the road to recovery will be long and challenging. I want to do everything I can to support her healing process and alleviate some of the stress that this situation has placed on my dad and grandpa.
