Chess teaches creative problem solving and fosters concentration, critical thinking, and positive self-esteem.
Chess helps promote intellectual growth and has been shown to improve academic performance including increased scores on standardized tests.
We have seen firsthand the overwhelmingly positive effects of scholastic chess programs on Maine's children particularly in rural and underserved areas.
Your support of the CiMS campaign will directly and positively impact the lives of K-12 students in Maine.
An investment of just $500 will provide eligible schools functional, inexpensive chess equipment, a proven scholastic chess curriculum, and technical support in establishing and maintaining a successful chess program throughout the academic year.
