Chess Grand Master Gildardo Garcia needs our help
Donation protected
Grand master, husband, father and grandfather Gildardo Garcia was hospitalized 2 weeks ago due to covid complications in his hometown Medellin, Colombia.
On Sunday night, December 27th, he was induced into a coma and put on a mechanical ventilator as his lungs fight against pneumonia and an embolism caused by this dangerous virus.
My father was very scared and conscious of what was going on, as a family we decided to give intubation a chance as a last resource to save him and keep him amongst us.
He wishes to live and promised to fight for his life.
It was then that we understood that we needed the support of our community to help us get through this.
Grand master Garcia has dedicated his life to representing his country in countless chess tournaments and has founded Alphachess academy, where he teaches the game and enthusiastically shares his valuable knowledge with young players in schools across South Florida.
Our family asks that you keep him in your prayers, we have lots of faith that he will win this battle, one of his toughest "games" as he said it himself.
Your donations will be used towards his medical expenses, recovery, and also to help with his finances while he regains the strength to face the world again.
A chain of prayer for my dad is much appreciated, we know he hears and feels our pleas.
We also ask that you include his brother in your prayers who is in the same unit and also intubated.
We thank you for your support.
