Help Me Return Home to Guam—One Last Time
My name is Cheryl Lyons, and I was born on the beautiful island of Guam. Though life has taken me far from it, Guam has never left my heart.
I’m reaching out with a humble and heartfelt request—for help to return to the place where my life began, one last time.
Guam isn’t just a destination for me. It’s home. It’s where I took my first steps, where I learned to laugh, where the rhythm of the island shaped who I am. I still carry the warmth of my childhood there—the scent of the ocean breeze, the taste of Chamorro food, the laughter of cousins, the music of culture and connection.
I haven’t seen many of my nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends in years. Life, distance, and serious health challenges have kept us apart. After undergoing a lung transplant and walking a path filled with both pain and resilience, my greatest wish now is to feel the sand of my island beneath my feet, to embrace my loved ones, and to reconnect with the land and the people who made me.
This journey means everything to me. It’s a chance to say thank you, to say I love you, and to say goodbye—if that time comes—with peace in my heart and my spirit whole.
If you feel called to help, any donation—large or small—will bring me closer to Guam. Closer to home. Closer to the love that shaped my life.
Si Yu’os Ma’åse’—thank you—from the bottom of my heart.
With love,
Cheryl Lyons
