Cheryl's Upcoming Liver Transplant

Hi, my name is Cheryl Radtke. I am happily married and we have two beautiful daughters.



I was diagnosed with liver cancer last fall.  I found out my only option was to receive a liver transplant.  Although the news was devastating, my journey has been interesting... lots of scans, appointments with medical teams in Edmonton, Alberta bloodwork and chemoemobilization.

Once I was cleared to go ahead with surgery for a transplant our daughters graciously stepped up to the plate to see if either was a match. As fate would have it, our oldest daughter is indeed a match and we are waiting for our surgery date!

The surgery should be scheduled in the next month or so.  My daughter and I plus our caregivers will have to stay near the hospital for three months after the surgery. This means relocating my family to a new city during that time. 

I have a fantastic support group through family and friends! I believe that a positive attitude has been instrumental throughout my journey. I still have a long road ahead with recovery after surgery but I am truly grateful for the medical team for giving me the chance to have a fulfilling life!

Funds raised will go towards covering the cost of living for my family as my daughter and I recuperate from this lifesaving surgery.
