Hello friends and family.
On Sunday June 2nd 2024 around 9:00pm Cheryl, Rob, and Zola (her dog) were hit in a head on collision while getting on I80 on the Exposition on-ramp.
Zola is back with us now and should be okay in time. Rob is in the ICU in critical condition at this time, we are praying and hoping for the best for Rob. Please pray to whatever higher power you pray to that he pulls through.
Cheryl did not make it and we lost her around 9:30pm shortly after the accident on Sunday. Each and everyone of us are shattered and in disbelief that Cheryl has left the physical Earth from us. We had plans this very weekend to celebrate Cheryl’s success in getting her studio apartment in downtown Sacramento with her fiance Rob.
We are planning her services and celebration of life and we will be announcing the plans when they are finalized. This was not supposed to happen yet, and was unplanned and unexpected, so we had nothing arranged ahead of time. We are appreciative of those of you who have offered to contribute.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla was intoxicated and driving in the wrong direction before colliding head on with Cheryl and Rob’s car. Cheryl and Rob’s car flipped and was thrown into the median wall. We do not know who the driver is at this time but we know he was arrested shortly after fleeing the scene, and was arrested on suspicion of DUI. We are still trying to piece together the details of the accident.
All of us here on Arliss are still having trouble with what to think, feel, or do. But if I can leave us with anything it was that Cheryl loved her friends and family more than anything and everything she did was to try and elevate us as a unit. Every time life knocked her down she got up swinging, and more than anything she wanted us to be proud of her. Let’s cherish all the memories we have with her and use our energy to giving her a proper final goodbye and to pray for Rob.
