Cherry’s fighting chance
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Shayley. My 8 year old American Staffy, Cherry, was just officially diagnosed with Lymphoma. It is unknown which type of lymphoma it is and additional testing is needed to treat accordingly. I never thought that I would ever consider giving my dog chemo. The oncologist is yet to test for B-cell or T-cell lymphomia but we know that we can only afford to chose 2 out of the 3 treatment options provided. First option is a single agent treatment which consists of 1 dose of chemo and a steroid tablet every 3 weeks for 5 rounds, this can hopefully put her into remission and give her another 10-14 months with us. The second option being palliative care, which is only a steroid tablet which is given just to keep her comfortable and this would gives us 1-3 months more with her.
We would like to give her the best quality of life while also keep her and her sister together, of course making sure she is not in any pain. Cherry is about to start a week dose of steroids while I try and make the best decision for her but I really need your help. Our Oncologist has suggested we try and make a decision the sooner the better so she has the best chance to respond to treatment.
Cherry is my best friend, and is her sister, Lylas, companion and support system. Lyla depends on her for company as she suffers with anxiety when left alone.
Cherry has been a part of our family since she was 9 weeks old and the thought of losing her so abruptly and without much time to fully process the situation is truly unbearable.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated as this process is extremely expensive. I would like to follow through with single agent chemo to see if she will respond because according to the oncologist, it was caught very early. This cancer can become very aggressive and can progress rapidly. It is unknown how much longer I have with her but any additional time with my Cherry is a gift; She is our everything.
All donations would be used solely towards imaging studies, laboratory work, chemotherapy treatments and medications to help alleviate any potential side effects. Cherry and I thank you for taking the time to read all the way through.
