Cherrie Corbett is a 58-year-old wife, mother of five, and proud grandmother of three. She has been on dialysis since December 2024 after her kidneys failed. While this journey has been filled with a mix of emotions, she yet strives every day to maintain a positive attitude. Cherrie believes with her whole heart that God will bless her with a healthy kidney through the kindness of a family member, friend, or even a stranger, and that she will have a renewed life.

Cherrie has worked most of her life, sometimes with two jobs. She had been vibrant and full of energy. Although she may have good days, most of the time she is weak and tired. She said, “The thing I miss most is my energy and youthful spirit. Tasks that once came easily now take much longer, and even walking from one room to another can be tiring.” Her days often begin at 4:30 a.m. for dialysis and frequent doctor visits, but through it all, she is thankful to God for the strength to keep going. Before kidney failure, she was working two jobs and longed to purchase a home. Although she was busy, her bills were paid, and life felt stable. Since October, Cherrie has been unable to work and has depleted her savings. At times, it’s been hard for Cherrie to afford her medications. She has been falling behind on bills and is constantly in fear of losing her vehicle, which she uses to get to dialysis and the many doctors’ appointments. Recently, the biggest blow came when she lost her Medicaid coverage, leaving her uncertain about how she would be able to afford medications and ongoing care.

A kidney transplant would mean so much more than just restoring health for Cherrie. It would give her life again. She said, “I dream of returning to work, rebuilding my strength, my credit, and my confidence. My husband would get his energetic help mate back, my kids would get their dancing mom again, and my grandbabies would get a GiGi who can run, play, and participate in fun things with them.” Cherrie is grateful for everything for every prayer, call, and donation. Cherrie stated, “From the bottom of my heart, I’m truly grateful for any support you can give. Your kindness brings hope and light to a very challenging season of my life.” Please be a candle of light that will light her path back to a full life.
