Chernobyl Radioactive Forest Fire

Chernobyl Radioactive Forest Fire Appeal!

"Dear friends! I appeal to everyone who hears and sees me. Besides the huge global problem with the Corona virus pandemic. There is a huge fire in the Chernobyl zone. Houses are burning in the villages of Polessky district. Adults and children of all villages of Polessky district, especially Ragovka, Lugoviki, Radynka, Maryanovka, Maksimovichi, and Markovka, suffer from acrid radioactive smoke. The village of Vilcha was completely burned. Radiation smoke negatively affects the human body, especially the child’s body. This is confirmed by an article that we published in a scientific journal. You can find it on: Chernobyl-health.org, Chernobyl-today.org
There is no personal protective equipment. And help is needed, as there is no time to waste. There are about 600 children in the disaster area. They really need your help!
With respect and gratitude,
Professor Yuri Bandazhevski, Professor Natalya Dubovaya”

Since April 3rd, radioactive forest fires have ravaged areas around Chernobyl. Thankfully the fire was extinguished beside the nuclear reactor preventing a terrible catastrophe. However the land is still smouldering and villages are dense with contaminated radioactive smoke which is extremely hazardous to the health of the children and people. Their health has already been hugely compromised due to the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster and now this devastating fire has compounded matters in a very serious way. This is without even alluding to the fear of the coronavirus spreading through the population.

According to the latest update (16th April 2020) from Professor Yuri Bandazhevski, there are very strong winds in the area which have spread radioactive dust and soot into the atmosphere. These current weather challenges have negatively impacted the health of the people in the area even further.

Irish Chernobyl Charities are coming together to support a Go Fund Me Page for this crisis:

‘Pashli’ Chernobyl Charity Dublin, Erris Children of Chernobyl Group, Belmullet and ‘Candle of Grace’ Charity, Castlebar.

On behalf of all of the above organisations, ‘Candle of Grace’ Charity made an official request to the Ukrainian Embassy in Ireland to assist us with our efforts.

We are hoping to raise 150,000 euro for a coordinated approach to this immediate crisis. We are proposing a 3 pronged approach.

1. Immediate evacuation of as many children as possible to the sea area of Ukraine where they can escape this dense contaminated radioactive smoke for rest, recuperation and rehabilitation. These children will need temporary accommodation, food and aid while away from their homes.

2. Delivery of aid by trucks to the affected regions which will include clothing, shoes, and essential vitamins.

3. Examination, treatment  and ongoing rehabilitation at the Professor Yuri Bandazhevski’s “Ecology and Health" Centre

This appeal is urgent. These children and their families have suffered so much already from the Chernobyl disaster. Now, they have to suffer dense radioactive smoke from these forest fires, along with Covid 19 which is spreading like the wildfires.

These families have suffered immeasurably from the effects of the Chernobyl disaster of 1986. Now a new nightmare unfolds as they must suffer the effects of life threatening smoke along with a deadly virus.

Please do what you can and donate what you can on our Go Fund Me page.

Thank you and God Bless you.
