Introduction:
Dear friends, family, and compassionate readers.
We write to you today with a plea for support for my mother, Cherie, who is facing a formidable battle for a second chance. She has been undergoing the most challenging part of her life emotionally, physically, and financially. We the Gardere family, are looking for support from friends, family, and the community. Our goal is to raise funds for Cherie's medical expenses, particularly for a life-saving liver transplant. Over the past six months, She has courageously navigated through series of medical appointments and frequent hospitalizations. Being in and out of the hospital has put a huge financial burden on her and the family. Cherie is a devoted mother of two, both Ray and Nathaniel, including a mother-in-law to Andrea, who bravely chooses to embrace sobriety.
Cherie's Journey:
Three months ago, my mother was diagnosed with chronic cirrhosis of the liver along with unknown cause of autoimmune hepatitis. Through this journey, my mother has endured many hospitalizations, medical appointments, and invasive procedures. However, this recent bacterial infection has further complicated her health. Unfortunately, this has made the situation worse, making a liver transplant even more urgent. Due to her condition, she is not able to be there for her family or two boys. Every time we speak with her she gets sad knowing that she might not be there to see her family grow if she does not get the transplant and care she needs. We want to make life easier for Cherie and the family as they journey through the medical needs and finances. Along with having to find a new home that we can afford, it has been challenging being able to afford the medical expenses and treatment for her. Both her sons Ray and Nate has taken time away from work to take her to her hospital appointments, and visit her in the hospital which has taken a huge burden on the family financially.
Sobriety and Struggle:
Although there has been challenges, My mother has made a life-changing decision to abstain from alcohol and has remain sober ever since she found out about the condition. Her commitment to keeping her health up, and determination to be there for her family speaks much more that words can explain. Although she has kept sobriety, it was not enough and is not in her favor. This is due to the worsening of her condition, and made it hard for my mother to keep employment, and added a financial burden on her and the family.
The Impact on Family:
Cherie has two sons that look up to her for guidance and support, Ray (25) and Nathaniel (22). She is not fighting this alone and even with the emotional and financial toll this has taken on Cherie, we are doing everything we can too keep her health up. The urgent need for a liver transplant has put a overwhelming burden on the family with only hopes for a new liver.
How You Can Help:
We are reaching out for support in funding this life-saving liver transplant for Cherie. Any amount big or small will contribute to Cherie's medical expenses, transportation costs to and from appointments, lost wages incurred by both Cherie and the family as they navigate this situation, and essential needs.
