Support for Cherie’s Medical Expenses

Donation protected
In 2014 Cherie underwent major surgery. She spent a whole four months in the hospital. She had a long road to recovery...

So we were devastated when we found out that on June 15, 2019 our parents we’re involved in a horrible car accident on their way home from her favorite country band, Alabama. A vehicle struck the passenger side where my mom was sitting and shoved them into the trax cement siding. The vehicle fled after hitting our parents. Our Mom was taken by ambulance to the ER. After doing a CT scan they found out that she had broken her femur, tibia in her right leg, and left shoulder. Sunday morning they took her back for surgery. Doctors rushed out with devastating news. Our mom had went into cardiac arrest while going under sedation, she lost up to TEN minutes of oxygen to her brain. Doctors placed a tracheotomy and could not go on with the surgery to fix her broken bones. After bringing her to ICU, what we thought was tremors after being sedated turned into multiple seizures nonstop for most of the day. With our hearts being shattered watching seizure after seizure, doctors tried seizure medication to slow down the seizing. Later that night they placed a central line close to her heart to administer medication in her bloodstream which would be more effective than through an IV. After placing her in a medically induced coma her seizing has since stopped.

June 18, 2019: Doctors stopped administering both of the sedation medications and took all pain medication out of her system. Seizing hasn't happened since being off sedation, so this is great.

June 19, 2019: Our Mom hasn't woke up. She remains in critical condition. She had an MRI, the doctors say she has some brain damage but aren’t sure of the extent. Our family was saddened but relieved that there was still hope. Doctors do not have a timeline of when she will wake up.

Our mom is the strongest person we have EVER met! Despite everything she has gone through she remains positive and keeps going no matter how much pain she's in. She is always thinking about others before herself. Those who know Cherie can agree that she is an amazing lady and that she has truly left a mark in their lives. I write this with tears in my eyes as I think about each and every thing our sweet parents have been through the past 5 years. We’re hoping to raise money for her medical expenses. Absolutely anything helps, even if it's a dollar. Please think of what our sweet Cherie would do if this was you in her situation. Anyone who knows her, knows she would be the first to donate.

We will not give up hope and ask for you all to keep praying. We believe in the power of prayer and want to thank each and every one of you that have prayed for our mom and family! She loves you all and can feel your prayers just as much as we can. KEEP BELIEVING!!

July 23, 2019: My mom is doing better although she is now in her own coma and a timeline is still unknown. We are constantly amazed by her strength. She opens her eyes and will look around at people and has been moved out of ICU but no one knows when she will "wake up".  She moves around a little and her vitals are doing good. We pray everyday that she will be strengthened and healed. We know she is not alone in her journey. My Dad (Terry Bangerter) and I have been by her bedside along with my brother (Brad Bangerter) and sister (Crystal Bangerter)  as well as many other family members since it's happened.  We have had many ups and downs in the last month or so but we know our Heavenly Father is there for my Mom watching over her everyday. She is not alone.

Oct 9, 2019: It has nearly been 4 months since this horrible incident happened and we continue to fight for our mom/wife. She's making small improvements that give us more hope everyday. The current care center she's at is one reason she's doing better and we'd like to continue her stay but insurance has now denied any further coverage. You know how insurance operates. We've raised funds that will currently extend her stay by about 2 months and we are looking into all other options to keep her there for recovery. I ask anyone reading this to dig deep and donate if you can, even if it's a little. My Mom has been there for everyone and now she needs all of you. Please if you can't donate then share the heck out of this for my family and my Mom. She is truly the most caring individual I have ever met and would do anything for anyone. This is when my Mom really needs all of you. Big THANKS to everyone who has already donated. It truly means the world to my family. Love you Mom, KEEP FIGHTING!

We want to thank everyone who has wished her well, extended prayers of hope and love, and contributed to the Gofundme. Please keep it up!!
