Hello, my name is Keri and I'm fundraising for my mother who recently passed due to a heart attack. Just before Thanksgiving my mother was rushed to the hospital with symptoms of a myocardial infarction. The next morning she was sent to have two stent placements and unfortunately went into ventricular tachycardia Thanksgiving night. Midday Friday she was transferred to another hospital that could support her. Friday night, after being on planes on day and driving an additional 4 hours, I was lucky enough to see my mother after two years of being separated. I did not fully understand just how sick she truly was. Because of the heart attack, the valve in her heart wasn't working properly and blood began to backflow into her lungs causing her to have difficulty breathing. My mother agreed to be intubated and placed on a ventilator. If I had known this would have been the last time I could speak to her consciously, I would have said so much more... It's been a rollercoaster of news from healthcare staff telling us that her heart is getting stronger and she's getting better to her organs beginning to fail and that she wouldn't make it. After being on a ventilator, continuous renal replacement therapy, and an aortic balloon pump for multiple days my mother went into cardiac arrest. Despite the healthcare professionals' best efforts, my mother was unable to be resuscitated. 12/1/23

I would like to thank you in advance for reading my story. She may not have been the best mother, but she sure tried her best and continued to fight through this until the very end. I know she loved my brother and I very much and would give anything in the world to help us succeed. I, nor my family, was not expecting to be planning a funeral for my beloved mother.
