UPDATE!! Chep York Funeral Ceremony
UPDATE!!
To our family and friends,
It saddens me with this news that we had received on August 30, 2020 at 1am (Cambodia date/time) my grandfather had passed away in Battambang, Cambodia. It’s pains us that we(family) couldn’t have a proper goodbye and say our last words. We can’t even fly out there but we have to facetime/video call to family in cambodia for his boun/funeral!! We are trying to set up a fund to send out to my family in Cambodia to help with funeral expenses but with all that’s been going on it’s been very difficult time for my family to come up with the money. I know it’s a difficult time for everyone but a small contribution would be kind and appreciated....
My grandfather Chep York was a loving man to his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids! He was loving, caring and over protective. He had a lot of strength and endurance for a man his age and health. He was devoted to showing people he was never weak but sometimes there’s a time and point in life where you just have to let go.

My grandfather who helped raise my siblings and I goes by Tha Chep; is a loving, caring, overprotective person as all fathers should be. He is the handyman of all things, so very dedicated to fixing and building things with his two hands. No matter if he came down with something it wouldn't slow him down one bit. He is one of the strongest people I've grown up to know.
My grandfather has arterial hypertension aka high blood pressure for about 4 years + now. Every couple years my grandfather would go to Cambodia to visit family during fall/winter, and usually be back to America by February or March before it the weather starts getting super hot than it already is. This year around was different because Covid-19; beginning of March my grandfather was suppose to come home, but instead Trump stopped all flights from other countries to come into the States, so eventually my grandfather got stuck in Cambodia, which led to shortage of money that he had only enough for a couple weeks and my family over here we are struggling with money since most of us is out of a job could only sent so much of what we had to him in Cambodia to survive til he comes home but shut down kept getting pushed.
Thursday June 25, 2020, we received multiple missed video calls from his wife in Cambodia not knowing what the phone call was about til we finally answered. We got the most devastating news, from my grandfathers wife; she told us that he had fainted coming home from the market that very hot afternoon, if she hadn't notice and rush towards him he would've collapsed and hit his head but she caught him on time, but he was unresponsive so then she had rushed him to the hospital. Little did we know my grandfather was having a stressful time and was getting sick and no not from Covid-19. Doctors told her that his blood pressure was super low and she told the doctors that he hasn't been eating much; hours passed and still he was unconscious and unresponsive.
Friday June 26, 2020 around 4-5am his wife calls bursting into tear telling us she doesn't understand why is body is getting cold and that he's having discoloration around his face...the thought of hearing that brought tears down our faces. My sisters, my mother and I had a flash back to when my father was in the hospital and when that had happen to him! The doctors didn't know what to do for my grandfather, so we had ask his wife to bring him to another hospital with better care and equipments. Thank god she was able to find one. His colors and warmth in his face and body were coming back. The new doctors there had told his wife that my grandfather had a heat stroke and now that has caused a blood clot in one side of his brain! Hoping he will get transferred to a better hospital, and we're pushing to get him toThailand as soon as we can. We just want him to get better so he can come home back to us in America in August. Knowing how poor our country can be, we were still scared that the care still wouldn't be enough.
This experience has followed up with many medical expenses and another stack of bills during my Grandfathers down time. To family and friends who are willing to help and provide support even a little, would be very appreciative. I'll be updating his condition every now and then when we get more news. Thank you for those who can contribute during this crazy time of year in 2020!! Keep Praying Please
