My name is Nicole Smith. I am a volunteer for Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoptions. I am organizing this fundraiser for sweet little 8 Ball, who had been, along with her husbird, Batman, living in Palomacy’s large, volunteer-powered foster aviary while patiently waiting to be adopted into a loving, forever home.
When volunteers noticed that 8 Ball started to look under the weather, we brought her to the vet where x-rays revealed that she is terminally ill and suffering from a massive abdominal tumor that is crushing her organs. 8 Ball is currently undergoing chemotherapy to shrink the tumor, relieve her discomfort, and buy her valuable, happy months with Batman.
Although she is unadopted, she is not in the least bit unloved, and Palomacy is caring for her as we would all care for our feathered family members. 8 Ball is now “foster home” with me after her first chemo treatment and I will be bringing Batman to her today. My partner and I will be building them a small, private, indoor aviary where they can continue to live, love, play, and flourish for as long as 8 Ball’s treatment is effectively managing her symptoms. We will not let 8 Ball live in pain or without joy.
I am humbly asking for contributions to directly fund her chemotherapy treatments at Medical Center for Birds. In return, I would like to share her story and her joy with you all. If you donate in any amount, feel free to provide me with an email address so I can send photos and updates about these two sweet, gentle birds. If you are comfortable sending a physical address, I would be happy to send photo prints over the mail in addition.
These birds belong to a network of compassionate volunteers, experts, and donors that allow them the dignity and kindness that every living creature deserves. In return, these birds enrich our lives, connect us to one another, and act as our healers and teachers. I am honored to have the chance to extend this community and to share the magic of little Magic 8 Ball with you.
