Tiffany’s Double Mastectomy Recovery

As we are all still processing, in May Tiffany was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, and has started 16 rounds of weekly and semi-weekly chemotherapy that will last through early fall. With relentless optimism, humor and grace, she has officially dubbed it Chemo Girl Summer. While health insurance will be covering most of the general admission to this exclusive summer event, upgrading to VIP has many unexpected expenses.

In her third week of treatments, Tiffany started the “shedding” process of losing her hair, a common side effect of chemotherapy. Understandably this is very emotional and the first visual sign of the chemo process. She has started “cold capping”, which significantly delays or prevents hair loss but unfortunately this treatment is not covered by insurance. 

In addition to the cold capping treatments, this fundraiser is to help provide Tiffany (and Josh + the dogs!) a less stressful experience as they take on this fight while geographically distanced from most of their family and friends. Donations for the VIP #CGS experience includes funding for, but is not limited to: Unlimited DoorDashes from Boston’s hottest restaurants, parking at Mass General Hospital’s premiere parking garage, personal trainers (dog walkers) for Bandit and Berkeley, and of course- Coastal Grandmother headscarves and sweaters to stay fashionable the whole way through!

Ultimately what we all want is to be there in person to give a hug or deliver a meal, and not being able to can leave us feeling a little helpless. The emotional support they receive remains the most valuable currency during this time, so keep the positive messages flowing all summer!
