Dear fellow Animal Lover,
We want to share Auggie's story, our very first time ever Rescue Foster Dog.
He is such a sweet, sweet, gentle boy! He took to my son the moment he was brought to our home, right on the front lawn!!
Auggie arrived 1 month to the day after losing our own sweet Bullmastiff to Cardiac Hemangiosarcoma. A devastating loss for us.
We were so happy to have the house filled with BIG Bullmastiff Love again and to offer Auggie the loving care he needed because he was sadly, surrendered by his owner to American Bullmastiff Association Rescue Services.
1 week after Auggie’s arrival we took him for a wellness check and it was discovered he had Lymphoma, given just weeks to live if he didn’t receive treatment.
Determined not to lose TWO dogs in TWO months, we made the decision to find a way to get Auggie the treatment he needs to save his life
That was 4 months ago and Auggie was in successful cancer remission!! Yay!
Then an unfortunate accident happened during one of his chemo treatments.
It’s called Extravasation, when the chemo drug spills from the needle into the surrounding tissue causing it to die, and keeps spreading, infecting the bloodstream and cause death from Sepsis.
There is a known antidote protocol, that must be immediately administered in this potentially lethal situation, we learned the Veterinarian’s office did not follow this protocol before sending him home to us.
Auggie's front leg tissue began to die from the inside out and was spreading up towards his body, getting infected, he would now need an amputation in order to save his life!
To further this unfortunate event, Auggie would have to stop cancer treatments before undergoing surgery, which could cause him to come out of remission, then need to switch to a different protocol after surgery to bring him into remission again, this rebound drug treatment is more costly.
It’s been 3 days since Auggie’s amputation, he is up and walking, adapting exceptionally well for having had a limb removed and wagging his tail when we are near him. He never lost his appetite through any of this!!
We are hoping to raise funds to pay for Auggie’s surgery and new cancer treatment. we spent thousands to save our former family dog, and would do the same for Auggie, because dogs are the best, but we just can’t, we need help to save this big beautiful baby boy's life!!
He is so sweet, please help if you can.
Thank you for your consideration and your generosity of heart.
We can’t thank you enough and neither can Auggie, but woof.
Be well.
