Chemo for JerrBear

Hi this is Jerry Grateful! After the passing of our 14 year old pit bull Smutty in October I was completely devastated and new I had to find a rescue dog to help me through some of my darkest days.
In December as I scrolled through hundreds of photos of shelter dogs I found this sweet boy’s photo drinking from a bowl. Something told me he was special (I know Smutty sent him) he had no history except found as a stray. So the next day we went to meet our new forever boy! He was so sick with kennel cough, bacterial, yeast, and fungal infections all over his body, UTI, and double ear infections. The shelter said he was on hold due to kennel cough and still intact. I told them I would absorb all medical care cost and I was taking him home to heal in a loving home.
I slept by his side every night, took him into the bathroom for steam treatments and gently massaged his face every night, made homemade cough syrup and paid all medical bills ($1,100) after a month of meds and special food he blossomed into a beefy 88lb gentle giant! Thick shiny fur, twinkling brown/amethyst eyes, and curious for new adventures!
So back to the vet for neutering surgery and more medical bills ($1000) he still had bacterial infection and ear infection. He was healing slowly. I had concerns about it, but he was doing better every day.
By March he looked great, was feeling better, had his first zoomie, and found out about the joys toys! Unfortunately we also found some lumps on him. He was diagnosed with Mast Cell Tumors. This is a long term disease, but with surgery, diet, supplements it can help manage some of the symptoms. He had surgery to remove 3 cancerous mast cells and 2 lymph nodes that the cancer had metastasized to ($5000). He was a champ throughout all this! The oncology teamed fell in love with his gentle demeanor the surgery team held him through the night while he recovered. JerrBear’s resilience is remarkable! He never let any of this bother him. He remained loving, playful, and happy throughout these last 5 months! He’s had most of those days mostly recovering from so much trauma and sickness and still remains optimistic and hopeful! My family and I are grateful for everyday we have with him and we need as many days as possible! He’s healed our family after the loss of our beloved Smutty boy. Jerr has filled our home with laughter and excitement again. Jerrrbear is so kind to every person( big or small) child, dog, cat, frog, and bug he meets!
I’m asking for help now and this is difficult for me, but he needs chemotherapy and the cost of his medical treatment is becoming difficult to manage. With 8 rounds of Vinblastine, bloodwork, and vet appointments we have been told it will cost 5600. That’s not including his supplements, holistic care, and daily doggy needs ( toys and food). I’m pleading for help for Jerr; he deserves more than what he’s been given. If you can’t donate, please share or at least send him good vibes and prayers on his journey! I will also add Jerry’s Amazon wish list if you’d like to donate to his preventative care and immune support!
Thank you for showing my family compassion, kindness, and support!
