Chelsey's Celebration of Life
Donativo protegido
Chelsey Ryann Updike, 16, of Kansas City, Kansas died in a car accident on June 2, 2021. Chelsey and her family had discussed what their wishes would be in the event of death, and Chelsey had expressed that she would like to be an organ donor. Her wishes were honored and her heart and liver have given two people a new chance at life.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time this family has had to say goodbye to a child. In 1999 her sister, Mackenzie Ryann, died at the age of three months as a result of congenital heart defects. Mackenzie needed a heart and possibly a liver to survive, and sadly, she was never strong enough to become a "good candidate" to be placed on the transplant list. By Chelsey's choice to donate her organs, life has truly come full circle.
Chelsey also said that she never wanted anyone to be sad when she died, and instead of a funeral, she wanted her loved ones to celebrate her life rather than mourn her death. The funds raised will go towards her celebration of life, final expenses and bills.
We appreciate your support,
