We have set up this page for Chelsey Halpin who has been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer for the second time, however this time we received the devastating news that this is now incurable and has spread beyond the chest and into the neck and bones. Due to the aggressive nature of Chesley's cancer, her life expectancy will be significantly reduced depending on how the cancer reacts to this second round of treatment. Doctors are not confident that the treatment will be successful as this previously did not work. Our goal as a family is to raise money for Chelsey so that she can fulfill her dreams, such as going to America as well as spreading awareness about cancer and how quickly it can spread if left untreated.
Chelsey was first diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2019, after she discovered a lump and referred herself to the doctors. She underwent 6 months of intensive chemotherapy, radiotherapy and had a right side mastectomy. She finished these treatments in April 2020, and was given the "all clear". Following on from this Chelsey should have received regular follow up with her designated consultant and breast care nurse. Unfortunately this never happened for Chelsey, and she was told on several occasions that her file was 'lost in the system'. Her allocated nurse went on maternity, consultant left the job and neither of them were replaced. This left Chelsey alone and with no support for over a year.
Mid 2021 Chelsey started to suffer from sever pains in her right side as well general fatigue, due to this she referred herself to the hospital where she was dismissed by a new consultant and told that these pains were due to nerve damage. She was given no care or medication for this. This pain became unbearable, and Chelsey once again had present herself to her GP and MRI, this was not taken taken seriously. Only once Chelsey called a 4th time and spoke to a different doctor was this referred to Christies.
Once Chelsey was finally taken seriously, she was rushed to undergo several scans and tests. It was evident at the initial examination that the cancer had returned and Chelsey was seriously unwell. Devastatingly on Thursday 10th February, we received the news that the cancer was the most aggressive type and is now incurable due to spreading to several areas of her body.
We want Chelsey's story to help raise awareness that although doctors may tell you one thing and turn you away, we know our own bodies and when something is not right. We must be persistent and stand our ground, to ensure we receive the care and treatment that we need.
All contributions will go toward helping Chelsey to live her best life and do
things that she always wished.
Thank you in advance, even if you cannot donate we would love you to share this story to raise awareness and spread the word!
Lots of Love Ami and Naomi Halpin xx
