For those of us with children, we never really thought about how easy or lucky we were to be blessed with them. For my daughter and son-in-law, Chelsea and Jeremiah Frateschi, it hasn’t been the easy road they’d envisioned.
They were married a little over 4 years ago on a beautiful October day. Like all newlywed couples they had big dreams about the perfect home they would buy and the children who would eventually fill it. A couple years after the wedding they were living in their perfect home, but the last piece of the puzzle was missing… children.
Questions arose after more than a year of trying with no results. Both were tested and their worst fears were confirmed. They had less than a 5% chance of conceiving naturally, but they refused to stop there. They were advised that In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) would be their best bet for starting a family. For any of you who know anyone who has gone through IVF, you know it’s costly and emotionally draining.
Chelsea & Jeremiah have gone through 2 hormone stimulated egg retrievals and 3 embryo transfers with a total of 4 embryos, all which ended in heart break. They were both on hormonal drugs, some of which Jeremiah has had to learn to inject into Chelsea. After their most recent failed transfer, their reproductive endocrinologist has told them their best chance in having a child is with donor eggs.
There is a program that will allow them to select an egg donor who has already donated her healthy eggs to the egg bank and buy these eggs for the chance at still having their family. There are multiple IVF cycles included in this program and as crazy as this sounds, a guarantee of a live, healthy birth. The price tag that has been put on their dream dangling in front of them is $47,500, the money raised through this Go Fund Me account will go towards offsetting this expense.
With the procedures, testing, surgeries and medication they’ve already incurred the cost for, their out of pocket expenses have been astronomical, even with insurance. They have paid about $20,000 since starting this journey, but they are willing to do whatever it takes so they can experience the joy of being parents and bringing a child into the world to love and cherish.
I know Chelsea and Jeremiah will be awesome parents. Please consider helping them out in whatever way you can so they can breathe a little easier while they work for the one last piece to complete their puzzle.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
