Only 3 weeks after the tragic loss of her brother Michael Jay, Chelsea had a major heart attack and collapsed at her home. Her 9-year-old daughter, Mikayla, witnessed the event. Chelsea's dad and brother did CPR until EMS arrived. She was intubated and stabilized but subsequently suffered a hypoxic-ischemic brain injury and is now in critical condition on the ventilator in the ICU at Oschner.
MRI showed extensive ischemia to the cerebral cortex and thalamus.
Chelsea is a single working mom. She has a heart of gold and loves her daughter and family more than anything.
Friends and loved ones are hoping to help alleviate some of the burden that her health care, both current and future, will require. This family has been through so much pain in the last few months. Please consider helping this beautiful family with a donation but especially with your prayers. Thank you so much for being loving advocates and friends to this family during these incredibly hard times. Any additional proceeds that exceed medical bills will go towards Chelsea's daughter Mikalya's future education and well-being. Thank you so much, God Bless.
Update Just wanted to thank all of our generous donors and give everyone an update. Chelsea is still in the intensive care unit and breathing with the assistance of a ventilator through a surgical hole in her neck called a tracheostomy. She is also receiving nutrition through tube feedings that go into her stomach via a peg tube. Chelsea requires full care since she is in a minimally conscious state. Her parents, Mike and Brenda, have not left Chelsea’s side. We are all praying for a miracle for Chelsea to awaken from this state. There are some new doctors on her case so we are hopeful they will find some more answers for us. God Bless each and every one of you, and God Bless Chelsea and her family.
