On May 20, 2019 my sister,  Chelsea, was involved in an accident injuring C6-C7 of her spinal cord. This accident left Chelsea a tetraplegic. She was in the ICU at Mass General Hospital for a month and then spent 3 months at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Now she is home in Springfield and working hard at her out-patient rehab facility. 

This is an unexpected journey and difficult challenge that my family has to face. The experience is life altering and will leave a lasting impact. But I know my sister is strong and determined. Chelsea is and was always a very hard working young woman. Whether it was at work, in school, or with the sports she did, she was dedicated. My sister will forever be someone I look up to. With some help and support from friends and the community her road to recovery will be faster and smoother. 

My mom is trying her best to make sure she gets the medical care that she needs, but there are other things Chelsea could use and have to help her recover. Chelsea would like to join a gym in Boston that helps people with similar injuries. At the facility they have the equipment and tools to help her get stronger that wouldn't be available to her at local facilities. We would also like to purchase a standing frame to help with her therapy at home.

Chelsea has truly shown enormous strength through everything.
