After being diagnosed with aggressive (metastatic) breast cancer Sept 15at the ripe old age of 29, i now know more than ever just how important it is to promote awareness.
It is shocking just how many people are affected in some way by cancer on a daily basis, just taking a look at my own little story makes you think, Married to my partner in crime (so to speak) got two hooligans or boys both descriptions fit, great career ahead and boom diagnosed at a much younger age than you would normally assume with an incurable nuisance. You have no idea just how many times and how quickly your life will get turned upside down and inside out how many needles will get stuck into the new pin cushion that is you.
With such a fantastic support network around me family and friends alike, a workplace that have bent over backwards to make sure that anything they could do for me they have and still continue to do so. What more could I ask for? It is however because of all this i feel i am able to do this.
My oldest friend and I are going to setting out on an adventure of a lifetime. We are aiming to cycle 400km from Vietnam to Cambodia in March 2018. All monies in which we can raise will go to:
1 - The Dorothea Unit (where I receive my treatment every 3 weeks still)
With a multitude of events over the next 18 month from bag packing to quiz nights, dress down days and coffee mornings leading up to the big event Mar 2018. We are aiming to raise as much as possible to make the saddle sore bums as worth it as possible. Hoping to hit the target of £10,000.
We will keep you all updated with upcoming madness and how the training is going for some serious saddle sore.
