Dear Friends,
We ask you please to help make a difference for Chef Michel Peters, a Trinidadian chef and father who has faced unimaginable challenges during the past two years.
Chef Mic, known for his mouth-watering and original Caribbean fusion cuisine, which he first showcased on his food truck at Eddie Hart Grounds, Tacarigua, and then at his flagship restaurant, Ivy's by Chef Mic in Barataria.
In 2021 his beloved wife and life partner Simone lost her battle to lupus at the age of 40. Tragically, in early 2023, his elder daughter Kayla only 23, also died from complications of lupus. Amidst this grief, Chef Mic continues to care for his 17 year old daughter Keira, who is also bravely battling lupus. Lupus is a non-communicable autoimmune disease in which he human body attacks itself. There is as yet no cure.
The emotional toll of these sudden dual losses has been accompanied by financial hardships. As he struggles with his heartbreak and grief, Keira's medical expenses, and the responsibilities of suddenly becoming a single parent, he is determined to get back on track with creating delicious, unique food that nourishes his customers, honours his Caribbean heritage and provides warm and memorable dining experiences for his clients.
Chef Mic is dedicated to giving back to the community of lupus patients and their families in Trinidad and Tobago, as the community has done so much to support him and his family through their darkest days. he hopes that providing complete, prepared meals will also alleviate some of the daily burdens on the families and care givers of lupus patients, even for a short time.
We have launched this campaign with the goal of raising $40,000 USD to empower Chef Mic to continue to rebuild his life and support his family. Your contribution will assist in covering medical bills, supporting his daughter's treatment, and launching his new line of ready-made meals for lupus patients and their care-givers.
We are asking you please to donate, and to share Chef Mic's story with your friends, family and social networks. Together, we can create a ripple of compassion and aid that will directly help Chef Mic and Keira, and will help other lupus patients and their families through Chef Mic's nourishing food. Your contribution, no matter how small will make a significant impact.
Thank you for your empathy, generosity, and for being a beacon of hope for Chef Mic and his family.
With heartfelt gratitude,
