Chef Freddy Perez - In his time of need

Donation protected
Latest Update: This has been a long journey. Freddy was not getting better because of an infected heart valve Emory Hospitals found near Christmas. He is in the ICU recovering slowly everyday.
New Update: 11/1 Freddy is back in the hospital because of acute kidney failure caused from antibiotics given. He is on dialysis while receiving antibiotics for a kidney infection. His doctor has extended his leave until December 2nd. Heartfelt thank you to everyone for your prayers, for your donations, your calls and support. As his wife, this has been hard as the sole income provider, taking care of Freddy and our house. Does not help when you do not have a supportive employer. Thank you again.

Update: Monday, 10/2, Chef Freddy went back to the hospital due to a portion of his right foot turning black. He will be having surgery Thursday, 10/5, to remove a portion of his right foot. His short term disability has been denied because of his companies pre-existing clause. God bless all for their prayers, calls and donations.

On August 26th, my world was shaken. Normal Saturday morning, my husband and I were deep cleaning our bedroom because we thought my husband had the covid virus for a week. That morning, Chef Freddy began to shake severely like a person with a severe case of hypothermia. The house was at a normal 74 temp; however, he put on layers of clothes, a thick sweater and blankets with no relief.

I checked his sugar…normal. I checked his temperature…..99 temp. So I checked his blood pressure…..the machine said ERR. I checked it again and it said….ERR. I checked my BP to make sure our BP machine was working properly. Needless to say, my BP was through the roof because of what was going on with him. I checked his blood pressure again……reading said ERR/89. I rushed Freddy to the hospital.

In the ER, my husband went from being evaluated in the ER to an Inpatient admission within 30 minutes to an hour. Little did we know Freddy was septic. Sepsis can kill if you do not catch it in time. His blood was infected. The hospital staff administered at least 4 different IV antibiotics within the first 2 hours.

Chef Freddy had 2 surgeries within the first week of being admitted to the hospital along with a blood transfusion. He loss the bone and tissue underneath his 5th and 4th right toe. My husband has been in the hospital for a month. He is not expected to go back to work until end of October possibly first of November. I am not certain his disability will pay a portion of his salary while he is out.(Update: Disability has denied his claim due to Pre-existing conditions and he will not be paid while he is out.) Chef Freddy wants to ensure we are okay. I will be our sole provider for a two-person household. I will be working while still caring for my husband 5 days out of the week administering his IV antibiotics, cooking, and helping him throughout the day. Chef Freddy has the task of learning to walk while his foot heals.

I am not one to ask for help; however, we do need your help. On behalf of my husband as he recuperates while receiving IV antibiotics, therapy and wound care at home from his nurses, I am asking for donations to help our family during this time. The funds will be used to keep this household afloat by helping me to pay bills, order groceries, and supplies as needed while Chef Freddy recuperates.

We thank you in advance for the love and support we have received and will receive through your charitable giving during this time. Be blessed mi familia!
